Is it required to certify an ASIN in the Ships in Product Packaging programme?

No, it is not required to certify your products but you may incur chargebacks. All ASINs that are 1) Non-Sortable and 2) are eligible for the program, but are not certified will receive a chargeback of £1.50/unit inbounded. Once I certify my products, does that certification have an expiration?

No, certifications do not expire, but products can be decertified from the programme. Decertifications commonly occur when a product has exceeded damage or non-compliance rates. When decertifications occur, a Vendor has a 60-day grace period during which chargebacks are waived and incentives are suspended to recertify their products. Once recertified, chargebacks will not occur.

What is an example of a why product would be decertified?

Example: an item is certified as SIPP, but the vendor uses a new adhesive to seal the packaging and does not retest with the new seals. This leads to damaged packaging, disappointed customers and to the item being decertified from the programme.

What should I do if my item has been decertified from the programme?

If your item has been decertified, you will need to re-design or make adjustments to your packaging, re-test the new packaging and re-apply for certification. You may need to simply add a piece of tape for proper closure or change your packaging structure. In order to determine what packaging improvements should be made, review the decertification reason in the Product Prep and Packaging dashboard in Vendor Central. You may also consult with your Amazon POC or someone in our Amazon Packaging Support and Supplier Network (APASS) network.

Do I need to certify my products for all of my vendor codes?

Yes, if you dispatch to Amazon from multiple vendor codes, you should ensure that you are certifying your product for all codes. Certifications will not automatically apply to all vendor codes when you enrol your ASIN. You should indicate each vendor code per ASIN directly in the enrolment template.

If I have similar products that utilise the same packaging, do I need to test all of them?

No, if you have physically similar items or ASIN variations, you can test one primary ASIN and include all secondary and similar ASINs on one enrolment template. Review our form factor guidelines for detailed requirements and instructions for enrolment.
